When I was appointed to take the challenge as a president, I was a bit reluctant because I was afraid I could not make it. I felt inadequate; my knowledge about English was limited. As if I could predict the future, some of the members of this club became demoralized and did not come to the meeting ever since I took up this post. What can I do? Sometimes, some members seem to avoid me. Would I be losing all my friends just because I am quite persuasive as a President or because I am too active in Toastmaster Club?
Nevertheless;
“Being a President of this club has been a great surprise to me,
Being a President, I’ve gained self-confidence in public speaking.
Being a President, I’ve learned to be punctual in every meeting.
Being a President, I’ve learned to be a positive leader.
Being a President, I’ve learned multitasking.
Being a President, I’ve learned and still learning how to accept rejection.
Being a President, I’m still learning on how to be a good communicator.
Being a President, I learn to improve my impromptu speech.
Being a President, I learn to be patient.
Above all, being a President, I know I am better than yesterday.”
Thank you to Toastmasters Club for giving me such a great opportunity to learn and engage myself as a president. I’ll treasure this memorable experience. To our new President, Joan Wang Yee Juen, CC,CL, all the best to you. I believe that you can bring this club to a greater height.
