For this 2nd Installation of PKKTMC, I like to record here the history of the inception of PKKTMC. When I was first approached regarding the formation of PKKTMC, I took a calculated risk by giving my consent. I am glad that I made that decision. Today PKKTMC is one year old and two lecturers, Jason William Vitales,CC and Radat Tasim,CC , who have been working consistently on their personal growth in communication skill have been recognized as Competent Toastmasters by Toastmaster International. I am indeed proud of them for having achieved their first targeted goal. I expect them now to aim for Advanced Toastmaster Bronze in line with the theme for this term, which to Realize Your Potential and Strive to be Better.
For those of you who have yet to reach your goal these two Competent Communicators are your role-models. If they can succeed so can you as long as you are willing to put effort into it. Take the opportunities that are made available to you during the bi-weekly training meetings. I would like to assure you that whatever accomplishments you make in PKKTMC will not go unnoticed and it will be taken into consideration for the yearly appraisal, as an added incentive for you.
I personally would like to see that PKKTMC develop into a permanent training platform for lecturers who wish to improve on their communication and leadership skills. I have full confidence in PKKTMC and its mission to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment for the lecturers in PKK. For those of who are full fledge members I hope you will be able to influence and persuade others who are not yet members to join the organization, so that they too could reap the benefits that derived from it. I also expect my lecturers to be on par with lecturers of other institutions of higher learning with regard to communication and leadership skills.
Individual personal growth is important but the growth of the club is just as important I would also like to see the club continues to vie for the Distinguished Club status. For that I would like to remind all the office-bearers to be installed this evening the importance of Club Success Plan and the implementation of the plan. I like to be kept informed of the plan, the membership status and the performance of the club from time to time.
Tonight I also like to acknowledge the contributions of the leaders from all the various Toastmasters Clubs in and around Kota Kinabalu.
